I hope this finds you well and that you’re enjoying the new blog.
I had my right cataract surgery the other week - not as pleasant as the first one as I was on the table for twice as long and he had to somehow support the lens as he said I’d had so many injections in that eye - oh well, at least I can see so much better and now only have to have reading glasses instead of the varifocals I’ve worn for so long. Of course the Macular Degeneration is still there and so I am still having eye injections (136 so far!!).
Recently it was open churches weekend and on the Saturday I looked up from my back garden to see people at the top of the church tower. Ronnie was here and so on the Sunday we ventured up and took photos of my cottage and garden and surrounding area. Unfortunately my camera was on the wrong setting so the pictures are a little blurred!
A clearer picture from across the road
My sister Heather in Canada has a display table with shells collected from various locations and I’d always wanted to do the same. I finally found a table on EBay which was dark wood but I managed to sand it down and was really pleased with the result! Unfortunately the beautiful purple sea urchin shell I used to have was broken by a cleaner some time back so it cannot take pride of place even though it had survived the move from Canada!
I’m so enjoying my garden (despite not being a gardener!) and watching the birds who are gradually realising there is food for them!
A pair of Goldfinches at the sunflower hearts

So thrilled to finally get a Robin and a GreatTit
I recently had a second loo installed downstairs in the utility room, which I’m rather thrilled about, especially with the stairs being so narrow.

Last Thursday I drove to Pauline’s and stayed for two nights. We walked in one of the lovely parks near her, had our hair cut, went to our favourite Italian restaurant, and went to see “The Salt Path” which was excellent - I’ve read all three of Raynor Winn’s books.
After the movie we ate at Wagamama with one of Pauline’s friends who had joined us.
A cheeky squirrel!
That’s it for last month. Can’t believe it’s June already!
I have to go and catsit from tonight for a week as Colin is visiting a friend on the south coast to help her decorate her new house. I miss the cats so much but they are happy where they are and don’t seem to have missed me, which is good, despite me being in tears whenever I think of them! However, the two outdoor cats (Quentin and Tiger) are so much better where they are and the indoor cat (Frankie) would not only wreck my carpets (we had wooden floors in Waddingham) but I’m going to be away too much this year, so it wouldn’t be fair to her.
Take care. Stay well and happy. Thanks for checking in.
