JANUARY 2026

Greetings from the U.K.!
How time seems to fly by these days!

Ronnie came back home with me from Norfolk just before the new year as I was supposed to have an eye injection on New Years Eve.  However, as I’d had a cold, they postponed it for a week.

One day we went over the Humber Bridge to Beverley, a lovely market town in Yorkshire (which is half way between home and Filey).

I’m fascinated by the birds in the garden and even had a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker one day but, of course, by the time I got the camera focused, he’d flown away!  I love sitting in my kitchen watching them feed on the sunflower hearts and fatballs.

It’s been quite cold and rainy in January but we did have a sprinkling of snow one day.

On January 9 we went to another Town Hall Live in Kirton.  This time it was Weetwood Mac - a very good Fleetwood Mac tribute band.

On January 15th and 17th Pauline and I attended four events at the European Figure Skating Championships, which was great.  I still can’t believe how many of the world’s ice dancing couples are coached by the former Canadian champions Dubreuil and Lauzan - it was lovely to see them supporting their European teams.

I finally found some snowdrops in my garden but so far no crocuses or daffodils - having not lived there in January and February last year who knows what the garden will produce!

This is an 86-year old friend of my eldest sister who lives close by and who I took out for lunch the other week.

A few views from my local 50-minute walk that I try and do four or five times a week.

Daffodils soon to bloom.

I’ve had a few lunches out with friends, as usual!  Pauline and I went to see “Hamnet” and I also went with a friend to see “Song Sung Blue”.  I’d forgotten how much better movies are on the big screen so I’m hoping to go to the cinema more often in the future.

That’s it for this instalment,  I hope all is well with you.  I’m currently on a train on my way to Norfolk for a couple of weeks.

Take care.
